Dental Inlays & Onlays in Borger, TX

Inlays and onlays sit between a filling and a full crown. When a tooth has more damage than a filling can reliably handle but doesn't need to be fully capped, Dr. Robertson can restore it with a custom-fit inlay or onlay — sometimes called a partial crown — that preserves as much of the natural tooth as possible.

The difference between the two

  • Inlay — fits inside the cusps of the tooth, restoring damage between them
  • Onlay — extends up over one or more cusps when the damage reaches the outer edge

What makes them a good option

Compared to a full crown, an inlay or onlay leaves more of your original tooth structure intact — and the tooth you keep is always stronger than the tooth we replace. Crafted from porcelain or composite to match your natural shade, they're virtually invisible once placed. In many cases, Dr. Robertson can complete the whole thing in a single visit using CEREC, so there's no temporary and no second appointment.

At the exam, Dr. Robertson will look at the extent of the damage and talk through whether a filling, inlay, onlay, or crown is the right restoration for that specific tooth. The goal is always to do the least invasive thing that will hold up long-term.
