Oral Pathology

Oral Pathology in Borger, TX

Oral pathology is the part of dentistry focused on recognizing and diagnosing diseases of the mouth, jaw, and related structures. At every routine exam Dr. Robertson looks for changes that could indicate something more than an ordinary sore or a stubborn patch — the earlier anything is caught, the better the outcome tends to be.

Signs that deserve a closer look

  • A sore on the mouth, lips, face, or neck that hasn't healed in two weeks
  • Persistent sore throat or hoarseness with no obvious cause
  • Red, white, or speckled patches inside the mouth
  • A lump or thickening in the tissue lining the cheek, gum, or palate
  • Pain or difficulty when chewing or swallowing
  • A change in how your teeth come together or how your dentures fit

How we evaluate

If Dr. Robertson sees something that warrants investigation, the next step depends on what it is — it might mean additional imaging, a biopsy of the tissue, or a referral to a specialist. Most findings turn out to be benign, but the point is not to wait and hope. If you've noticed anything new in your mouth, don't put off a visit.
